Kookmin Law Review

Call for Papers

The Kookmin Law Review invites the submission of original manuscripts in English on any law related subject for the first issue of Volume 27.

The Kookmin Law Review is published 3 times annually by the Legal Research Institute at Kookmin University in Seoul, Korea. The Law Review’s primary goals are to promote analytical and critical research among legal scholars and practitioners from all over the world.

The Law Review requests that all contributors kindly e-mail their manuscripts to legalri@kookmin.ac.kr by May 30, 2014. Please refer to the relevant guidelines below for submission of manuscripts and feel free to direct any inquiries regarding the submission of manuscripts and/or the Kookmin Law Review to the editors of the Law Review at legalri@kookmin.ac.kr.

Submission Guidelines for Original Manuscripts

The Kookmin Law Review requires that all manuscripts closely observe the following guidelines:

1. The submitted manuscript must be original and previously unpublished.

2. It must contain a cover letter indicating the following information: Title of manuscript, Author’s name, Qualification, Position, contact information, such as address, phone number and email address.

3. It must have an abstract that is concise describing the purpose, methods and arguments of the study (around 200 words).

4. It must be around 13 pages in length using A4 paper and 10 point font.

5. Citations in manuscripts should appear in footnotes following The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation. Please keep in mind that The Bluebook requires detailed citation. Therefore, if you are unfamiliar with The Bluebook citation system, please provide as much information as possible in order to facilitate the editing and cite-checking process.

Editorial and Peer Review Process

Submitted manuscripts are reviewed by three referees selected amongst prominent scholars and practitioners by the Editorial Board members. At least two of the three referees must not be from the same association as the author(s).

The standard by which the referees are to use for their review of manuscripts are as follows:

(a) Manuscript’s originality

(b) Manuscript’s professionalism

(c) Manuscript’s quality

(d) Manuscript’s contribution to academia, and

(e) Possibility of plagiarism or the like.

Upon review, referees will make one of the following recommendations:

(a) Acceptance without revision

(b) Acceptance after minor revision

(c) Re-review after revision, or

(d) Rejection.

If two or more referees chose “Rejection,” such manuscript will be regarded as rejected from publication.

Names and decisions of the referees are kept confidential.

The Editor-in-Chief will notify each author of the final decision on acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.

Upon publication in the Kookmin Law Review, while copyright of the manuscript belongs to the corresponding author(s), it is agreed that the Law Review and the Legal Research Institute retain the right to directly or indirectly produce, sell CD-ROMs or disk-files and supply via electronic media, without compensation to the author(s).
